Results & Example Report

Final results are reported both electronically and by mail upon completion of each submitted set.

Results are also posted to a private directory so that you can access them via the web with a UserID and password. When submitting samples, request these ID’s to obtain web access.

An explanation page is included with each report providing a comprehensive guideline to understanding the results and the applicability of radiocarbon dating to biobased carbon-14 analysis.

THE BIOBASED CONTENT RESULTS ARE REPORTED IN THREE FORMATS

Mean Biobased Result

The Mean Biobased Result is the average biobased content based on the carbon-14 analysis. It is a single number representation that does not include precision limitations. This is the number most likely to be used by Federal Procurement agencies.

Apparent Biobased Content

The Apparent Biobased Content is a 6% absolute range. It is the Mean Biobased Result plus-and-minus 3%. This range represents a best estimate of the biobased content of a product when considering reasonable precision limitations.

Pie Chart

The pie chart provides a clearly visible representation of the percent biobased content of the product analyzed.
